INSPEC was formed in 1967, based on the Science Abstracts service which has been provided by the Institution of Electrical Engi－neers since 1898.. Though based in the UK, its sales are worldwide with over 80 per cent exported. The INSPEC database, which lies at the centre of this service, dates back to 1969 and has a long-standing reputation for database quality. INSPEC assists engineers, scientists and oth－ers in their research, to locate relevant jour－nal articles, conference papers and other doc－uments. In addition, the database may be used for:

Database Content
         Over 3500 scientific and technical journals and some 1500 conference proceedings, as well as numerous books, reports and disserta－tions are scanned each year by INSPEC staff for relevant articles to abstract and index for inclusion in the Database. The Database now contains over 7 million bibliographic records and is growing at the rate of 350,000 records each year.
